Day 1 - Auckland - Wed 20th Feb

Auckland, City of Sails. Our largest city, situated on two harbours and never far from the sea. Auckland hosts a third of our population and is our economic powerhouse. If your feeling fresh we have the opportunity for a scenic run along the waterfront or a quick dip in the ocean.

 

Tour starts

1400 – Check in any time after 1400hrs at Quality Hotel Parnell, Auckland

1500 – Optional run for those who have arrived early Auckland waterfront ~10km

1800 – Tour briefing and welcome meeting

1900 – Group dinner (included)

 

Day 2 - Paihia - Thur 21st Feb

The hub of the far-north, Paihia is the gateway for the beautiful Bay of Islands. Surrounded by subtropical plants and sheltered clean ocean, this beautiful must-see location is also our most historically significant. Enjoy the cultural and historical nature of this destination as we get our bodies acclimatised.

0900 – Back at Hotel

0945 – Check out and depart

1045 – Arrive at Parry Kauri Park (20 mins)

1105 – Depart Parry Kauri Park

1300 – Arrive at Whangarei for Lunch (not included)

1345 – Depart Whangarei

1445 – Arrive at Whale Bay for beach walk (optional beach swim)

1545 – Depart Whale Bay

1730 – Arrive at Paihia and check in to Admiral’s View Lodge, Paihia

1830 – Dinner at local restaurant (not included) and free time for evening beach walk and exploration

Day 3 - Paihia - Fri 22nd Feb

30-50 km coastal ride with coffee stop at Russell

0900 – Depart Paihia on bikes

1100 – Arrive in Russell for coffee

1245 – Lunch at accommodation (included)

1345 – Drop off at Waitangi Treaty Grounds for guided tour and Kapa Haka show.

1700 – Pick up from Treaty Grounds

1900 – BBQ dinner at accommodation (included)

Day 4 - Raglan - Sat 23rd Feb

Today we begin our journey south to the western township of Raglan. Famed for its world class left-hand surf break, Raglan is a small quaint surfer town with a great kiwi vibe. Here we have the opportunity to swim, bike, run or enjoy the waves at the local family beach.

0930 – Coffee stop in Waipu
1300 – Lunch stop on route

1500 – Arrive in Raglan and check into Palm Beach Motel, Raglan

1600 – Optional swim, run or scenic walk around Raglan town
1800 – Group dinner at local restaurant (not included)

Day 5 - Raglan - Sun 24th Feb

0800 – Breakfast continental (included)
0900 – Bike – 15km circuit taking in surrounding farmland and township
1000 – Run – 6km circuit
1200 – Drop off into Raglan town for lunch and free time
1300 – Free time and activities (kayak tours, SUP lessons, surfing lessons and board hire)
1400 – Scenic drive to Manu Bay surf break and Ngarunui Beach
1900 – BBQ Dinner at Motel (included)

Day 6 - Rotorua - Mon 25th Feb

Rotorua is a lakeside town situated amongst the geothermal region of the central plateau. As the adventure capital of the north island, Rotorua offers the chance to enjoy some of our most famous attractions including Hobbiton, Waitomo and Wai O Tapu. It’s also home to our most challenging half ironman races so we will take you out onto the scenic course for a optional swim, bike or run to get you focused on your big race to come.

1000 – Arrive at Waitomo Glow Worm tour

1100 – Arrive at Otorohanga Kiwi House and Native Bird Park (included)

1500 – Hobbiton Movie set

1800 – Arrive Rotorua and check into Wylie Court motor lodge

Day 7 - Rotorua - Tue 26th Feb

Today we take a day trip to the popular beachside township of The Mount. The perfect place to get in some final miles before the race,. This location offers a flat race course to explore plus a beautiful surf beach, hot pools, cafes and restaurant and great scenic walks and views.

Day 8 - Rotorua - Wed 27th of Feb

1300 – Arrive back at accommodation for Showers

Day 9 - Taupo - Thur 28th of Feb

Today we enter the home of IRONMAN New Zealand. On our way to the great lake, Taupo, we will take in the geothermal wonders of Wai O Tapu. Then the excitement builds as we join with other athletes to familiarise with the course and take in the atmosphere of this terrific event.

After the celebrations it’s a quick last look at Taupo before we heading back to where it all began in Auckland. If time is of the essence you can be on a late afternoon flight, or join the group for our last meal together and final tour celebrations.
